MAINE COON BREEDERS AND FANCIERS ASSOCIATION, INC.

CONSTITUTION

Article 1. Name

The name of the organization shall be The Maine Coon Breeders and Fanciers Association, Inc.

Article 2. Affiliation

This Association shall be non-affiliated.

Article 3. Location

This Association shall serve the interests of owners, fanciers and breeders of the Maine Coon cat worldwide.

Article 4.  

Purpose: this Association shall through social, recreational and hobby activities, including all meetings and cat shows, join individuals in sharing and furthering their hobby and interest toward the Maine Coon Cat, including:

A.  Promoting the Maine Coon Cat.

B.  Protecting the Maine Coon Cat from obliteration of any of its naturally evolved features.

C.  Encouraging selective breeding toward the standard.

D. Promoting and encouraging closer harmony and the exchange of information among breeders and    owners of Maine Coon Cats.

Article 5. Dissolution

This Association shall be a non-profit organization; no part of the net proceeds of which may inure to any individual or profit- making organization. In the event of dissolution of the Association for any reason, all of its assets after payment of its just obligations, shall be: distributed by the Executive Council for one or more feline health charities meeting the exempt purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (cx3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Article 6. Membership

Persons interested in the purposes of this Association are eligible for membership as set forth in the By-Laws.

Article 7. Trustees and Officers

Trustees and officers shall be elected as set forth in the By-Laws. Trustees and Executive Council Officers must be Breeder Division Members other than Provisional Breeder Members.

Article 8. Meetings

Meetings shall be held as set forth in the By-Laws.

Article 9. Amendments

This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of Breeder member ballots received by the Recording Secretary. Suggested amendments shall be sent to the President with the signatures of at least seven Breeder Member catteries. The ballots for the proposed amendment will be sent out with the minutes of the next meeting. Members shall be given not less than four weeks to return the ballot. The actual vote count will be announced in the minutes of the next meeting. Unless otherwise stated in the specific amendment, said amendment shall take effect on the date of the meeting at which the results of the voting are announced.
